Shows You Should Stop Watching... TODAY!!! Vol. 1

There are so many excellent options available for your viewing pleasure today, that there is no excuse for watching trash television.  If you’re on the fence about a particular TV show, allow me to help you ditch it so that you can free your schedule up for something much better.  Here is a list of shows people should stop watching immediately:

The Walking Dead

Y’all need to stop acting like this show is great.  This show stopped being great the moment it went to being a show about walking around in the backwoods of Georgia.  If you’re a fan of the show you’re probably triggered right now, but I challenge you to think about something.  Consider the fact that seasons 1-4 take place over the course of a few miles.  Season 1 has 6 episodes, 2 has 13 episodes, and 3 & 4 are 16 episodes a piece.  That’s 51 episodes that have minimal geographical movement.  Why is this such a big deal?  It’s a big deal because the plot moves just as slow as they do!  The Walking Dead has several problems (terrible characters who make terrible decisions, most of season 2, being on AMC and not a premium network, Andrea, Carl, Lori, etc.) but the biggest is the fact that nothing happens over the course of most of the episodes.  I’m cool with having a character driven episode, but you can’t slow down the progression of a story just so you’ll meet the required number of episodes for a season.  Honestly speaking, no show should have more than 10 episodes a season and there are very few exceptions to this rule (“Justified” and “The Americans” are two I can think of off top).  The best thing the show has going for it right now is that damn Jeffrey Dean Damn Morgan as M*********g Negan.  That mf is a trip.

Jessica Jones

I don’t know if you’ve made it to the end of Jessica Jones season 2 yet, but I’m going to tell you right now that if you haven’t you can stop. This s**t is low-key TRASH, fam.  Season 1 is great because of Kilgrave.  I’m all for the story that season 1 told and the arc of empowerment that was covered, but season 2 has NOTHING.  All Jessica and Patsy (Cherry told me to call her that) do is whine the entire season.  By the end of it, you’re questioning why the show still exists.  This leads me to another, bigger issue within this corner of the MECU… Iron Fist really did ruin this whole thing.  Marvel and Netflix knocked it out of the park two and a half times (the second half of Luke Cage still bothers me) before Danny Rand f****d it up and things simply haven’t been the same.  I think only Daredevil and The Punisher should have standalone shows, and Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and a NEW Iron Fist should have a show together. (Note: If you want specific, targeted roasting of JJ season 2, check out Episode 53 of the podcast.)

American Horror Story

This show should’ve just continued the story of the first season.  The “Murder House” season was a horror masterpiece and ends with a story that extends past the titular house.  The set up given at the end was awesome and subsequent seasons could’ve been special, but instead we got “Asylum”.  “Asylum” disappointed a lot of people but we just stuck with it in hopes of getting back to something as good as “Murder House”.  We’re still waiting.  “Covenant” was cool for a few episodes, “Freak Show” survives off the strength of its villain, “Hotel” survives off Gaga, “Roanoke” is a gimmick, and “Cult” is supposed to be about an election, so it didn’t have a chance in hell.  This show gets by off cheap, ridiculous sex scenes and gratuitous gore.  It’s insulting.  It’s even worse because it’s from the creators of the amazing “American Crime Story” series.  And before you claim I’m on a high horse, this is coming from someone who loves both “Game of Thrones” and the guilty pleasure that is “Love & Hip Hop”.  I know TV, dawg…

J2

is sometimes simply referred to as "The Greatest of All Time".  This is due to being able to juggle various objects that include knives, fruits, potted meat, hedgehogs, and crab legs...
